Dans la peau de Jean Armand Une vaste campagne d’étude comparative d’oeuvres de l’ébéniste J.Armand est organisée au CREOD durant tout le mois d’avril. L’occasion de récolter de nombreuses données techniques et stylistiques sur le corpus encore trop mal connu de cet ébéniste de l’époque Louis XIV, récemment découvert par l’historien Calin Demetrescu. Cherry side table with beautiful cherry blossom marquetry finished just in time for the peak bloom of the Japanese cherry blossoms here in Washington, D.C. The marquetry work by @amanda.p.jury wraps around all four sides of the table and includes maple, bloodwood and fumed oak veneers. The legs are shaped by hand and the top is a beautiful figured cherry. Had a very international day yesterday: a trip to the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to present on behalf of Angie Lemon PR the news of the latest album release of Damir Imamović on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, and his upcoming London debut at Milton Court, the Barbican, which Samra already has tickets for. She was delighted to receive copies of Aleksandar Hemon’s new novel The World and All That It Holds that has inspired the album. I’m paying particular attention to the photos of the Ambassadors each one presenting to the Queen, across the decades, as the next tenure starting in around three months will be held by a returnee. I was given a warm welcome. Thanks to Samra I then had coffee with Bosnian musicologist Ognjen Tvrtkovic. I swung by the London Cycling Campaign offices on the way home (I’ve won a free bicycle pannier!) and grabbed a hasty Ethiopian dish and loved the look of the basketry and instrument on the wall! Enjoyed all the cherry and magnolia blossom along the way!
