𝗦𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗬𝗔 (𝗢𝗸𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗺𝗮, 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻)○The founder of Someya Nanako Suzuki started her plant-dyeing apparel brand based on her faith in believing that colours lead people to happiness🌈 Her dedication to creating natural dyes and pigments started from the close relationship between the area where she’s living in and the beautiful nature surrounding her🌱○In Nanako’s first collection, she has created the most beautiful and elegant colours of brick red, olive green and sumi charcoal using Japanese organic cotton with extraordinary soft touch and comfort. By simmering and boiling the mix of Indian madder and Japanese Pagoda tree, she has achieved the unique brick red pigment; extracted the calming olive green pigment from tall goldenrod flowers and produced the versatile sumi charcoal with Alnus Firma.Every procedure of hand-dyeing is done manually and being looked after carefully by Nanako. Each piece of garment has its own tag to record its dyeing data (temperature, humidity, number of times in dyeing the piece of fabric). We highly respect and appreciate all these stories and concepts that Nanako is striving toward🙌🏻○We’re proud to be Someya’s overseas distributor in Melbourne. We’re very excited to introduce you this ethical and respectful apparel brand. ✨Introducing some beautiful ceramic works by our dear friends from Shiga Prefecture✨○From our travel journals last October, we did a road trip driving to Shiga from Kyoto to meet Japanese ceramic artist Kaname Takeguchi and his wife Kaoru Takeguchi. This lovely couple has been working in their atelier in a Swedish cultural art village locally for years. We had so much fun talking about our common interests in Japanese antique furniture, and we even bought our pieces from the same supplier! Such a miracle coincidence and it means we treasure and appreciate the same aesthetics and designs☺️🙌🏻 ○Kaname Takeguchi has a passion for antiques and so his works always have an elegant touch of vintage styles. All of the forms and silhouettes are created by him, and the signature Ivory and Rustic Gold glazes symbolize his creations which make everyone recognize his works at the first glance😍 One important and beautiful feature of the Rustic Gold glaze is that it will change naturally as the ceramic piece is being used over time. It’s like a nurturing process of the art piece, which records the memories of living with the ceramic pieces for us😌🤍○We’ve recently updated our online store for those who can’t visit our gallery. Sharing some precious and beautiful pieces by our dear friend Kaname Takeguchi, who is a popular ceramic artist currently based in Shiga Prefecture (will soon move to Hyogo), Japan. Takeguchi-san blends his own clay by using different kinds of Shigaraki clays. His works always have an elegant and antique style with a distinctively comfortable feel when holding. Practicality is another dedication that he has been striving for over decades when creating the unique forms of his works. Ivory and rustic gold are the two symbolic glaze colours that represent his creations. Takeguchi-san wishes that users will find that it’s a continuing enjoyment to appreciate the change of the rustic gold glaze finish over time😌✨○Only very limited pieces are exhibiting in our gallery now.
